What was the situation that brought you to this point. Are you seeking full custody or joint custody. What are the reasons for your request? Do you believe that that it is reasonable to ask for full custody. What where your responsibility’s in your past situation, Did you get the kids ready for school, put them to bed at night, help with homework?

The best interest of your child is the most important aspect when determining child custody. Some court’s have different views as to what you might think is in the best interest of your children.

Child custody evaluations are used in a large percentage of custody cases. Either the court will order an evaluation, or one or both parents will petition the court for the evaluation. Evaluations may include some of the following.

The primary purpose of a child custody evaluation is to assess the best psychological interests of the children. Another primary focus in a child custody evaluation is to assess the individual and family factors that affect the parenting capacity and developmental needs of the children.

The physical and mental health of all individuals involved. The willingness and ability of each parent to facilitate and encourage a close and continuing relationship between the other parent and the child.

Attorney selection is critical and in my opinion one of the most overlooked areas in child custody cases. Hiring the wrong attorney can cost you more than just money it can cost you your case.
